After a long time, this is one Sci-Fi romance movie that I found to have had a novel approach to showcase. Let me jump right into the story. Issac is a researcher in Astrophysics who is on a quest to find exoplanets in the Universe where there is evidence for the existence of life beyond Earth. He teaches at the Ontario University. His tools are scientific datasets. He keeps mapping the datasets released by the TESS telescope to find out if there is any scientific result that can be obtained to prove the existence of exoplanets. His intense interest in figuring out things in the Universe also creates adverse effects on his personal life. He lives alone, separated from his wife, after losing their child during the labour. At this point, he is even pushed to use the University's resources unauthorised for his research. After this is known to his supervisors, he is fired and has been asked to take a break and come out of this obsession of his. Issac doesn't give up. He works on the datasets from home seeking some resources from his colleague and friend who works in the University. He puts up an ad for hiring an unpaid research assistant and ends up meeting Clara who volunteers to be a part of his work. Clara is a free-spirited woman who has profound thoughts about the Universe, existence and the world. Issac and Clara gradually fall in love with each other but do not discuss much their feelings towards each other. Clara understands that Issac's fixation on discovering something with life beyond Earth is connected to his baby's death too. She pushes Issac to trust his feelings and listen to the Universe more than just relying on scientific data. She talks about "Quantum Entanglement" where 2 particles when separated by a large distance still continue to influence each other's behaviour. She connects it with those who have lived and died as well. However, Issac thinks that it's all spiritual nonsense and ignores her. His obsession with the research also makes him ignore Clara and her failing health. Clara is diagnosed with auto-immune disease and her organs begin to fail one by one. Finally, Clara dies with her last words to Issac- "I wish I could see your face when you see it". Issac is left confused and heartbroken. He, however, resumes his research after Clara's death only to find a mystical discovery connecting everything that Clara had told him and the existence of life outside Earth. இது ஒரு வித்யாசமான அறிவியல் புனைக்கதையைக் கொண்ட திரைப்படம். நம் பிரபஞ்சத்தில் உள்ள அத்தனை விஷயங்களையும் கண்டு வியந்து கொண்டிருப்பவர்களில் சிலர் , அது கடவுளின் படைப்பு என்று நம்புவார்கள், சிலர் அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சிகளின் முடிவுகளை நம்புவார்கள் , சிலர் நம்மைவிட அறிவு முதிர்ச்சி பெற்ற ஒரு இனம் இதற்கு காரணமாக இருக்கலாம் என்றும் நம்புவார்கள். இது போன்ற சிந்தனைகளை திரைக்கதையின் பல பகுதிகளில் கொண்டுள்ளது இந்த திரைப்படம் . இப்போது கதைக்கு வருகிறேன். ஐசக் ஒரு இயற்பியல் விஞ்ஞானி. அவர் ஒண்டாரியோ பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் இயற்பியல் ஆராய்ச்சியில் ஈடுபட்டுக்கொண்டே, ஆசிரியராகவும் பணிபுரிகிறார். பூமிக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டு , உயிர்கள் வாழும் கோள்கள் ஏதேனும் உள்ளதா என்று கண்டுபிடிப்பதே அந்த ஆராய்ச்சி. இதற்காக நாசாவின் TESS எனப்படும் தொலைநோக்கியிலிருந்து கிடைக்கும் தரவுத்தொகுப்பை ஆராய்ந்து, பூமியை போன்ற கோள்களை கண்டுபிடிப்பதில் முனைப்புடன் ஈடுபடுகிறார். இந்த அதீத முனைப்பாடு அவருக்கு சில சிக்கல்களையும் ஏற்படுத்துகிறது. ஆராய்ச்சிக்காக கல்லூரியில் உள்ள சில உபகரணங்களை சரியான அனுமதியின்றி பயன்படுத்தியதற்காக வேலையிலிருந்து தற்காலிகமாக நீக்கப்படுகிறார். இருப்பினும் வீட்டிலிருந்தபடியே ஐசக் , கல்லூரியில் பணிபுரியும் தன் நண்பனின் உதவியுடன் ஆராய்ச்சியை தெடர்கிறார் . இந்நேரத்தில் ஆராய்ச்சி வேலைகளை விரைந்து முடிக்க உதவியாளர் தேவை என்ற விளம்பரம் கொடுக்கிறார். அப்போது தான் கிளாரா என்ற துடிப்பான இளம்பெண் அவரின் வாழ்க்கைக்குள் நுழைகிறார். பல திறமைகளை கொண்ட கிளாரா, கலை, அறிவியல், தத்த்துவம், வாழ்க்கை, உலகம் போன்ற பல விஷயங்களை பற்றி தனது கருத்துக்களை ஐசக்குடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறார். ஆராய்ச்சிக்கு கிளாராவின் பணிகள் பேருதவியாய் அமைகிறது. நாட்கள் நகர நகர இருவருக்குமிடையே காதல் மலர்கிறது. ஏற்கனவே திருமணமான ஐசக் மனைவியை பிரிந்து வாழ்கிறார். அவருடைய முதல் குழந்தை இறந்து பிறந்த சம்பவம் அவர்களின் திருமண வாழ்க்கையை பாதித்து பிரிவை உண்டாக்குகிறது. இந்நிலையில் ஐசக் வேறு ஒரு கிரகத்தில் உயிர்களின் இருப்பை நிரூபிக்கும் ஆராய்ச்சியில் தீவிரமாக ஈடுபடுவதற்கு , அவர் குழந்தையின் இழப்பும் ஒரு காரணம் என்பது கிளாராவிற்கு மெதுவாக புரிகிறது. "Quantum Entanglement" என்ற அறிவியல் கோட்பாட்டை கிளாரா ஐசக்கிற்கு விளக்குகிறார். அதாவது இந்த பிரபஞ்சத்தில் ஒரே குணத்தைக்கொண்ட இரு துகள்கள் எவ்வளவு தூரத்தில் இருந்தாலும் , அவற்றின் செயல்பாடுகளில் பல ஒற்றுமைகள் உண்டு என்பது எந்த கோட்பாடு. தான் தேடும் விடைகள் சில நேரங்களில் அறிவியலின் மூலம் மட்டுமே கிடைத்து விடாது ; இந்த பிரபஞ்சம் சில நேரங்களில் நமக்கு கொடுக்கும் சமிக்ஞகளையும் கூர்ந்து கவனிக்க வேண்டும் என்று கூறுகிறார். இதெல்லாம் ஏதோ வெற்றுப்பேச்சு என்று நினைத்து ஐசக் அவற்றை பொருட்படுத்தாமல் விட்டுவிடுகிறார். கிளாராவிற்கு திடீரென உடல்நலக்குறைவு ஏற்படுகிறது. எதிர்ப்புசக்தி குறைபாட்டால் தன உடலில் உள்ள பாகங்கள் செயலிழந்து, இறந்துவிடுகிறார். ஆனால் இறக்கும் முன் ஐசக்கிடம் , "நீ அந்த உண்மையை கண்டுபிடிக்கும்போது உன் முகத்தில் வரும் மகிழ்ச்சியை காண முடியாமல் செல்கிறேன் " என்று கூறுகிறார் . இது ஐசக்கை குழப்பத்தில் ஆழ்த்துகிறது. எந்த உண்மை என்று ஐசக்கிற்கு புரியவில்லை .கிளாராவை இழந்த துக்கத்திலிருந்து விடுபட ஐசக் மீண்டும் தன் ஆராய்ச்சியை தொடர்கிறார். திரைப்படத்தின் இறுதிக்கட்டம் , கிளாரா கூறிய அந்த வாக்கியத்தை தெளிவுபடுத்தும் ஒரு எதிர்பாராத சுவாரசியமான விடையாக அமைகிறது.
