The Movie's name is the name of one of the oldest churches in New York. Ernst Toller is a reverend who preached in the church. He was a military chaplain before and is still trying to cope with the loss of his in the Iraq war. He also suffers from many health issues and resides in constant drinking in order to forget all his pain. Meanwhile, a woman called Mary meets him and requests him to counsel her husband for some time. As they are expecting their first child, she confides in the reverend that her husband is an ardent environmental activist who believes that the world has become a hopeless place for a new life and hence thinks abortion is the only solution. Empathizing with her, the reverend agrees to meet the husband and help him. Things start to get complicated after the first meeting followed by a series of tragic events. Ethan Hawke proves to be a brilliant actor time after time!

சுமந்து கொண்டு வாழ்கிறார். அவருக்கு இருக்கும் ஒரே ஆறுதல் தனது மதுப்பழக்கம் மட்டுமே. இப்படியிருக்க, ஒரு நாள் மேரி என்னும் பெண்மணி அவரை சந்திக்கிறார். சுற்றுசூழல் ஆர்வலரான அந்த பெண்ணின் கணவர் பல போராட்டங்களில் பங்கேற்று, சிறை சென்றிருக்கிறார் . தற்போது மேரி கருவுற்றிருக்கும் இந்த சமயத்தில், "இந்த உலகம் மிகவும் பாழடைந்த பாதுகாப்பற்ற நிலைக்கு சென்றுவிட்டதால் , நமக்கு இந்த குழந்தை தேவையில்லை , கலைத்துவிடுவதே நல்லது " என்று தன் மனைவியான மேரியிடம் கூறுகிறார். இதனால் சலசலப்படைந்த மேரி , Ernest இடம் உதவி கேட்டு வருகிறார். தன் கணவனிடம் இவ்வுலகைப்பற்றிய சில நல்ல விஷயங்களை போதித்து எப்படியாவது அவரது நம்பிக்கையை அதிகப்படுத்துமாறு போதகரிடம் கூறுகிறார் , அவரும் அதற்கு சம்மதிக்கிறார் . முதல் சந்திப்பிற்கு பிறகு எல்லாம் முற்றிலும் மாறிவிடுகிறது. எதிர்பாராத திருப்பங்கள் , நிகழ்வுகள் , இழப்புகள் என திரைப்படம் வித்தியாசமாக பயணிக்கிறது. ஈத்தன் ஹாக் ஒரு தலைசிறந்த நடிகர் என்பதற்கு இதுவும் சமர்ப்பணம் .
