Mallesham is an inspiring tale of a young man from a poor family in Telangana. The Handloom industry is one of the sectors where people have to rely on their manual labour to create beautiful handmade textiles.
Mallesham was born into a family that depended on this industry for survival. Mallesham had always watched his mother toil day and night, manually weaving sarees and selling them for money. This also takes a toll on her health as she suffers from arm pain. The village of Mallesham has been facing the same issue for many years. Mallesham, a bright kid at school wanted to find a solution to this problem. As textile sales went downhill, Mallesham's father made him drop out of school and asked him to take up weaving to support the family. Mallesham reluctantly agrees and puts a full stop to his education. However, being an inquisitive child and a critical thinker, Mallesham always loved experimenting with things around him like electronic devices, spare parts and the like. His teacher also gives him a dictionary and tells him to continue developing his knowledge, no matter where he is. Mallesham thinks of creating an automated Handloom machine that can greatly reduce manual labour. However, due to insufficient money and resources, he struggles to build it. Mallesham faces a lot of obstacles in building the machine technically and emotionally. The people in his village, especially his father discourage him and advise him to forget about the machine and settle down for a minimum-wage job, now that he is married and has a child. Mallesham stays unrelenting and continues his work. His wife and mother play a huge role in supporting him to finish the machine. Was he able to finish it though? The movie's climax will tell. This is a biopic of Mr Chintakindi Mallesham.
மல்லேஷம்- ஒரு ஏழை நெசவாளனின் அழகான கதை. 70-80களில் தெலுங்கானாவில் உள்ள ஒரு கிராமத்தில் நெசவுத்தொழிலாளர்கள் கைத்தறி நெசவு இயந்திரங்களை உபயோகித்து ஆடைகளை உற்பத்தி செய்து இந்தியாவின் பல நகரங்களுக்கு அனுப்புகிறார்கள். அன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் நெசவு இயந்திரங்ளில் தொழில்நுட்பம் என்பது கம்மியே. இடைவிடாது இயந்திரத்தை உபயோகிக்கும் நெசவாளர்கள் அதிக அளவு உடல்வலியாலும் கைவலியாலும் அவதிப்படுகிறார்கள். அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களின் ஒருவர் மல்லேஷம் என்னும் சிறுவனின் தாய். தன் அம்மா நாள் முழுவதும் நெசவு இயந்திரத்தின் முன் உழன்றுகொண்டிருப்பதை பார்த்து மல்லேஷம் மனம் வருந்துகிறான். ஏழ்மையின் காரணமாகவும் , தொழிலில் தேக்கம் ஏற்படுவதாலும், மல்லேஷத்தின் பள்ளிப்படிப்பை நிறுத்திவிடுகிறார் அவனின் தந்தை. முதலில் வருந்தினாலும் , பின் குடும்ப பாரத்தை சுமக்க தயாராகிறான் மல்லேஷம். பெற்றோருடன் சேர்ந்து கைத்தறி நெசவில் ஈடுபடுகிறான். தன்னுடைய பள்ளி ஆசிரியருக்கு இந்த முடிவில் வருத்தம் என்றாலும் , மல்லேஷத்தை சந்தித்து ஒரு ஆங்கில அகராதியை அவனுக்கு அளிக்கிறார். "உன்னை போன்ற அறிவான மாணவன் , பள்ளிக்கு செல்லவில்லை என்றாலும் தன் அறிவை நிச்சயம் எப்படியாவது வளர்த்துக்கொண்டு மென்மேலும் வளருவான் ", என்று வாழ்த்திவிட்டு செல்கிறார். நேரம் கிடைக்கும்போதெல்லாம் மல்லேஷத்திற்கு பழைய , பாழடைந்த மின் சாதனைகளை பிரித்து , அவற்றை சரிசெய்வதில் ஆர்வம் வருகிறது. ஆசிரியர் கொடுத்த அகராதியை உபயோகப்படுத்தி அந்த சாதனங்களின் பாகங்களையும் அவற்றின் உபயோகத்தையும் பற்றி தெரிந்துகொள்கிறான். மல்லேஷத்திற்கு ,"நான் ஏன் ஒரு மின்னியங்கி கைத்தறி நெசவு இயந்திரத்தை உருவாக்கக்கூடாது ?" என்ற எண்ணம் வருகிறது. ஆனால் நினைத்தவுடன் நடத்திமுடிக்கக்கூடிய விஷயம் அல்ல இது என்பதும் மல்லேஷத்திற்கு தெரியும் . இந்த இயந்திரத்திற்கு தேவையான பணமோ , பாகங்களோ அவனிடம் அப்போது இல்லை. இருப்பினும் முயற்சியை கைவிடாமல் , இயந்திரம் தயாரிக்கும் பணிகளில் மல்லேஷம் தன்னை ஈடுபடுத்திக்கொள்கிறான். காலம் உருண்டோடுகிறது. மல்லேஷத்திற்கு திருமணம், குழந்தை என குடும்பபாரமும் வந்து சேரவே , தன இயந்திர வடிவமைப்பு கனவு எட்டாக்கனியாக இருக்கிறது. இதற்கு மேல் அந்த ஊர் மக்களும் மல்லேஷத்தின் தந்தையும் , இயந்திரம் உருவாக்கும் வீண் வேலையே விட்டுவிட்டு பட்டணத்திற்கு சென்று வேறு வேலைக்கு போக சொல்கின்றனர். மல்லேஷம் பலமுறை முயன்றும் தான் வடிவமைத்த இயந்திரத்தில் ஏதேனும் ஒரு கோளாறு ஏற்பட்டுக்கொண்டே இருப்பதை கண்டு மன உளைச்சலுக்கு உள்ளாகிறான். மனைவியின் ஊக்கம் , தாயின் அரவணைப்பு இவ்விரண்டுடன் மல்லேஷத்தின் விடாமுயற்சி தொடர்கிறது . "இவ்வளவு தூரம் வந்து விட்டாய் . இன்னும் சிறிது தூரம்தான் ", என்று ஒரு அவனுள்ளே ஒரு குரல் ஒலித்துக்கொண்டே இருந்தது . இறுதியில் மல்லேஷத்தால் அந்த இயந்திரத்தை வடிவமைக்க முடிந்ததா என்பதை இந்த திரைப்படம் இயல்பான காட்சியமைப்போடு கூறுகிறது. இது ஒரு உண்மைக்கதை . எந்த கல்லூரிக்கும் போகாமல் அறிவியல் மற்றும் பொறியியல் துறையில் பத்மஸ்ரீ விருது வாங்கிய சிந்தாகிந்தி மல்லேஷம் அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாறு.
