What I found very much refined in Anton Chekhov's works is the absence of nondescript story characters. Everything stands out, well embossed, either via the titles or the plot. Russian Lifestyle, Architectural marvels, Arts, Sophistication, and Politics, were blended well into the narratives. Notable ones among them are
A Misfortune, Vanka, Zinochitka, Volodya, A Gentleman Friend, Joy, The Album, Strong Impressions, etc. let alone "At a Country House" which reminded me of a filibuster.
His stories are neat, simple, and easily understandable to grasp the moral. Plain story-telling, during those days, was regarded as special and all-embracing too. Literary styles do get their transition and trends as time goes by. Endings, hardly any twists, short yet sweet and engaging.
"Classics are Classics
Irrevocable and Irreplaceable!"
