A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT(2004)
Director :Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Starring: Audrey Tautou,Gaspard Ulliel, Marion Cotillard

 During World War I, many French soldiers lost their lives on the battlefield and many of the troops also planned to escape military service through self-mutilation. In the meantime, a young woman who is longing to see the face of her lover and wants to know his whereabouts starts a pursuit. She also hires a private investigator for support and gathers clues that will lead her towards finding out what happened to her beau. Despite the difficulties and hurdles she encounters during this quest, she never loses hope and faith. The movie with an aesthetically pleasing screenplay and cinematography unfolds the climax. It reminded me of "Amelie".

 ஒன்றாம் உலகப்போர் நடந்துகொண்டிருக்கும் நேரம் அது. தோட்டாக்களுக்கும், பயங்கர குண்டுகளுக்கும் பல பிரஞ்சு ராணுவப்படை வீரர்கள் இறையாகிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். இந்நேரத்தில் பிழைப்பதற்கு வாய்ப்புகள் குறைவு என்பதை அறிந்தும் , தன் காதலனின் கதி என்ன என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ள தன்னால் முயன்ற எல்லா முயற்சிகளையும் எடுப்பதற்கு ஒரு இளம்பெண் ஆயத்தமாகிறாள். தனக்கு உதவியாக ஒரு துப்பறிவாளரை தேர்ந்தெடுத்து ,அவருடன் பல இடங்களுக்கு பயணித்து தன்னுடைய காதலன் என்ன ஆனான் என்னும் கேள்விக்கு விடை தேடுகிறாள். ஒரு அடி முன் வைத்தால் இரண்டடி பின்னே தள்ளும் பல பிரச்சனைகளை சந்திக்கிறாள் . இருப்பினும் தன் இலக்கிலிருந்து மாறாமல் , தன்நம்பிக்கையுடனும் விடாமுயற்சியுடனும் தேடுதல் தொடர்கிறது. இறுதியில் காதலனை காணப்பெறும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்ததா ? இருவரும் ஒன்றிணைவார்களா என்பதை இந்த படம் கலைநயத்துடன் கூறியிருக்கிறது. "அமீலி" திரைப்படத்தை நினைவூட்டும் படம்.

ALL FOR NOTHING

  A text's verbosity reaches unfathomable grandiosity when poetry meets prose. Michael Ondaatje is gifted enough to weave a tale that's tragic in parts but wholly serene. At its core, "In the Skin of a Lion" treads the rugged path that courses a life chart making the journey somewhat worthwhile. Patrick Lewis is wildly swayed by the situational currents while what he truly yearns for is an ounce of regulated love. Love that is messy, uncompromising and effusively profound enough to make him feel things. At the fag end of his life, Patrick understands the universe's twisted sense of humour. In Patrick's case, timing plays a cursed role. Expectations are detached to deadlines. Everything has to run its course.  Alignments don't care about our whims and fancies. MODIGLIANI (2004) Director: Mick Davis  Starring : Andy García, Elsa Zylberstein, Omid Djalili Biopic of famous Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani. The movie is set in Paris in 1919 and takes you on an artistic journey showcasing the life and works of Modigliani. During that era, Modigliani's biggest rival was another world-famous artist, Pablo Picasso. Their competition, self-centric approach and ego project them as mighty contenders and arch-rivals in the field of art. This eventually leads them to face each other in a famous competition that the whole world was waiting for Modigliani Vs Picasso. The works of Modigliani stood the test of time and were celebrated because of the emotions they radiated. To this day, this is being examined. All of Modigliani's works were the manifestation of his own emotions and experiences.
