Yatra (2019)

 Yatra is the biopic of one of the most renowned politicians from Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The movie mainly covers the incidents and events that happened before, during and after his popular "Padayatra" which made him a trustworthy figure of hope among the people of Andhra. YSR believed that the only way to win the election and the trust of people was by meeting them listening to their problems and by taking part in their sufferings. With a strong ruling government such as TDP, YSR's biggest and only strategy to beat them or to give them a tough battle was the 900-mile walking tour. The movie also shows how YSR was a strong-willed politician and never gave in to the pressures from the High Command. Mamooty has done an impeccable job as YSR and this is his 4th Telugu movie. The film ends with emotional footage showing the fatal helicopter crash that killed YSR and 4 men who accompanied him.

 முன்னாள் ஆந்திரா முதல்வர் Y.S. ராஜசேகர ரெட்டி அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கையின் ஒரு முக்கிய அத்தியாயத்தை கதையம்சமாக கொண்டு எடுக்கப்பட்ட திரைப்படம்தான் "யாத்ரா" . மம்மூட்டியின் 4வது தெலுங்கு திரைப்படம் இது. 2004 ஆம் ஆண்டு நடைபெற்ற சட்டமன்ற தேர்தலில் வெற்றி பெற்று ஆந்திராவின் 14வது முதல்வராக பதவியேற்றார் YSR. ஆனால் அந்த வெற்றி அவருக்கு சுலபமாக கிடைத்திடவில்லை . பலம் பொருந்திய ஆளுங்கட்சியாக இருந்த தெலுங்கு தேசம் கட்சியை எதிர்த்து காங்கிரஸ் சார்பாக களம் இறங்கினார் YSR. அந்த தேர்தலின் வெற்றிக்கு பின்னால் இருந்த மிகப்பெரிய காரணம் அவர் மேற்கொண்ட "பாதயாத்திரை" . மக்களின் குறைகளை அவர்கள் இருக்குமிடம் சென்று கேட்டறிந்தால் மட்டுமே நல்லாட்சியை வழங்க முடியும், அரசியலில் நிலைக்க முடியும் , அவர்களின் நம்பிக்கையை பெற முடியும் என்பதை உணர்கிறார் YSR. 300 மைல் நடைப்பயணத்தை தொடங்கி , மக்களை சந்தித்து , பல தேர்தல் வாக்குறுதிகளை வழங்குகிறார். இந்த யுக்தி அவருக்கு வெற்றியை ஈட்டி தருகிறது. மக்களிடம் உறுதியளித்ததை போல பல திட்டங்களை நிறைவேற்றவும் செய்கிறார். மம்மூட்டியின் நடிப்பு அருமை. படத்தின் இறுதியில் அவரின் எதிர்பாராத இறப்பை பதிவு செய்யும் நெஞ்சை உலுக்கும் காட்சிகளும் இடம்பெற்றிருக்கின்றன.

Emails or Phones or WhatsApp didn't exist then. Though these gates did scare us a few times...it very well taugh...

MOVIE REVIEW-POSSUM

Possum (2018) Director: Matthew Holness Starring: Sean Harris, Alun Armstrong A defamed children's puppeteer who is emotionally unstable and psychologically scarred plans to dispose of his grotesque puppet. Every time she tries discarding it, the puppet comes back to haunt him emotionally by being there in his room the very next day. This disturbs him in turn and deprives him of his sleep. His step-father also lives next door with whom he has an estranged relationship. Meanwhile, a young boy in the same neighbourhood gets kidnapped and the policemen start suspecting the puppeteer for it, given his weird behaviour and constant trips with the bag. MOVIE REVIEW-BRIGHT STAR

Bright Star (2011) Director: Jane Campion Starring: Ben Whishaw, Abbie Cornish. This movie is a biopic of John Keats, the world-famous poet who gave us the most wonderful lines, "The thing of beauty is a joy forever". Keats did have an easy life. He struggled to make both ends meet. Poems, for him apart from an art of expression, were also tools to earn his bread. He wrote the most beautiful poems which were appreciated as well as criticised during his time. Keats fell in love with a woman called Fanny Browne, a French woman who in turn loved the poet and his poems deeply. Keats wanted to provide her with a good life and hence focused on earning more and finding new opportunities. Unfortunately, he did not last long but his poems did. Keats died at a very young age in Rome miles away from the woman he loved, leaving her devastated, with just his poems, sonnets and words to comfort her.
